EN MEMORIAM - From TheDailyCartoonist:  American media businessman, writer and comics creator, editor and publisher, Mort Todd, has died at the age of 63, Sunday, August 24, 2025.  Todd is best known for becoming the youngest Editor in Chief of the long running humor magazine, "Cracked Magazine" in 1985.  In 1994, Todd launched "Marvel Music," a line of music comics for Marvel Comics. Todd worked with such artists as "Kiss," "The Rolling Stones," and "KRS-One," and artists such as Neil Gaiman and Kyle Baker.  Todd also worked in the film industry where he storyboarded commercials and produced animation.

FANTAGRAPHICS - From FantaBlog:  Fantagraphics will explain why they are holding "The Fantagraphics Books 'We've Been Robbed' Sale."

DC COMICS - From DCBlog:  Artist Hayden Sherman talks about redefining Wonder Woman/Diana in the series, "Absolute Wonder Woman."

COMICS - From BleedingCool:  Writer Rodney Barnes and artist Elia Bonetti have announced a new "racial horror" comic book series, "Crownsville," to be published by Oni Press.  The double-sized, 48-page first issue arrives Nov. 5th.

MARVEL COMICS - From BleedingCool:  Jimmy Palmiotti is writing and Tommaso Bianchi will draw the five-issue miniseries "Daredevil/Punisher: The Devil's Trigger."  The first issue is due Nov. 26th, 2025.

COMICS - From BleedingCool:  Longtime California retailer of comics, art books, out-of-print, and rare books, Bud Plant, says that he will retire in 2026.

MARVEL/DC - From GamesRadar:  Frank Miller is apparently writing and drawing a Marvel/DC crossover story that will pit Wolverine's "Old Man Logan" against Batman of "Batman: The Dark Knight Returns."

EISNERS - From BleedingCool:  The winners 2025 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards have been announced.

MARVEL/DC - From BleedingCool:  Frank Miller will contribute some "Wolverine vs. Batman" art for Marvel/DC's upcoming "Deadpool/Batman #1."

MARVEL - From BleedingCool:  There are more details about Abram ComicArts three-volume publication of John Byrne's fan-fiction, "X-Men" Elsewhen."  It was written and penciled by Byrne.  For Abrams editons, the art will be inked by Byrne and Bryen fan, Paul Wills; colored by Lovern Kindzierski and Leonard O’Grady, and lettered by Byrne and Patrick Brosseau.  There will also be guest inkers, such as comics legend, Walt Simonson.

From BleedingCool:  John Byrne's 32-issue fan-fiction "X-Men" comic book, "X-Men: Elsewhen," will be collected in three volumes by Abrams via its "Marvel Arts."  The comic book will be inked and colored for the first time and it will be re-lettered.  The first volume is due April 2026.

MARVEL - From BleedingCool:  Writer Jimmy Palmiotti and artist Dan Panosian are producing a four issue miniseries, "Marvel Knights: The Punisher," as part of Marvel's celebration of the late "Marvel Knights" imprint.

SUPERMAN - From TheNewYorker:  "The New Yorker" has revived a 2013 article, "Kryptonomics," by writer Deborah Friedell about how Superman's creators, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, got a raw deal on the sale of their creation to National Periodicals.

From Deadline:  The opening weekend box office estimates for James Gunn's "Superman" range from 122 million dollars to 125 million dollars.

From Forbes:  Actor Edi Gathegi talks about trusting James Gunn's vision for "Superman."  Gathegi plays "Mister Terrific" in the film.

From THR:  Writer James Hibberd of "The Hollywood Reporter" says "Stop, Already, With Superhero Movies Ending With Big, Dumb CG Smash Battles."

COMICS TO FILM - From THR:  There is a hot film package getting the attention of Hollywood studios heads.  It features director Taika Waititi and writer Drew Pearce bring British comic book icon, Judge Dredd, back to film.

DC STUDIOS - From ComicsBulletin:  HBO Max's "The Penguin" earned 24 nominations at the 2025 / 77th Primetime Emmy Awards.  That is the second most for a television series based on a comic book.  HBO's "Watchmen" earned 26 nominations and won 11.  The winners will be announced in a series of ceremonies that culminated in the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony on September 14th.

DC COMICS - From DCBlog:  Mark Waid talks about his latest comics project for DC Comics, the four-issue limited series, "New History of the DC Universe."

SD COMIC-CON - From TheWrap:  At San Diego Comic Con 2500, the 6500-seat venue, "Hall H," is where Hollywood studios come to launch major franchises. However, the major studios, including Lucasfilm ("Star Wars"), Warner Bros./DC, and Marvel Studios, are skipping the film panels.

MARVEL - From BleedingCool:  The Fantastic Four return to newsstands in the "bookazine" (a book-like magazine) entitled, "Marvel Comics: The Fantastic Four."  It will be comprised of reprinted stories, but none of the stories will be from Stan Lee & Jack Kirby or John Byrne. The issue is out July 4, 2025, and each issues comes with $30 in free digital comics.  According to Amazon, the book costs $14.99 for 96 pages.

IMAGE COMICS - From ComicsBulletin: Image Comics has announced its full lineup of panels, signings, and variants-for-sale at the 2025 San Diego Comic-Con.  The convention takes place from Wed., July 23rd to Sun., July 27th, 2025.

EN MEMORIAM - From Forbes:  Comic book industry writer, editor, publisher, and executive, Jim Shooter, has died at the age of 73, Monday, June 30, 2025 (of esophageal).  A pivotal and important figure in the development and modernization of the American comic book industry, it would eat up too much space to list all his accomplishments.  However, Shooter is best remembered as the Marvel Comics' Editor-in-Chief (EiC) from January 1978 to April 1987.  Shooter was Marvel ninth EiC and some believe that he issued in a second "Golden Age" at Marvel during his tenure.  After Marvel, Shooter would go on to co-found the comic book publishers, Valiant Comics, Defiant Comics, and Broadway Comics.  As a writer, Shooter wrote the 1984-85 landmark comic book miniseries, "Marvel Super Heroes Secrets Wars," which is commonly known as "Secret Wars."  Shooter started writing comic books at the age of 14 for DC Comics and made numerous important contributions to the "Legion of Super-Heroes" franchise.

From BleedingCool:  People from throughout the American comic book industry remember former Marvel Editor-in-Chief, Jim Shooter, who died on Monday, June 30th. The remembrances comes from such people as C.B. Cebulski, Erik Larsen, Jim Lee, Paul Levitz, Rob Liefeld, Chuck Rozanski, Walter Simonson, and Mark Waid, to name a few.

From TCJ:  "The Comics Journal" is apparently working on a proper obituary of Jim Shooter, the former Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief who died Monday, June 30th. In the meantime, they have links to interviews they conducted with him.

DC COMICS - From BleedingCool:  There are future "Batman" projects coming from Jim Cheung, Olivier Coipel, and from the team of Tom King and Steve McNiven.

IMAGE COMICS - From GamesRadar:  Robert Kirkman, famed writer of "The Walking Dead" comic book series, will take over as writer of the "Transformers" comic book series produced by his company, Skybound.  DC Comics star artist, Dan Mora, will draw the series.  There first issue is "Transformers #25," due in October.

BRITISH COMICS - From Empire:  Empire magazine has a first-look image from the animated feature film adaptation of "Rogue Trooper," the long-running comic book series from the venerable British comics magazine, "2000 AD."

MARVEL - From BleedingCool:   September's "Deadpool/Batman" crossover comic book from Marvel Comics will feature the lead Deadpool & Batman story by writer Zeb Wells and artist Greg Capullo.  It will also include these other following crossover back-up stories:

-- Captain America/Wonder Woman by Chip Zdarsky and Terry Dodson
-- Daredevil/Green Arrow by Kevin Smith and Adam Kubert
-- Jeff the Land Shark/Krypto by Kelly Thompson and Gurihiru

DC COMICS - From BleedingCool:  According to "Bleeding Cool," DC Comics will move to Universal Distribution, which is essentially the Canadian version of Diamond Comic Distributors, as the distribution of its comic books in the United States.  DC Comics is currently with Lunar Distribution.

NEWS:

MARVEL/DC - From EW:  Marvel and DC Comics have announced that "Deadpool" and "Batman" will crossover in two one-shot comic books.  First, writer Zeb Wells and artist Greg Capullo will produce "Deadpool/Batman," which is due from Marvel on September 17th, 2025.  Arriving on a later date from DC Comics is "Batman/Deadpool," from writer Grant Morrison and artist Dan Mora. 

COMICS - From THR:  Writer Mark Millar and artist John Romita, Jr. have announced a new three-issue miniseries, "Psychic Sam."  It will be funded via Kickstarter and development on a film adaptation has already begun.

EN MEMORIAM - From BleedingCool:  American comic book writer, Peter David, has died at the age of 68, Saturday, May 24, 2025.  A prolific comic book writer, David may be best known for his 12-year run writing "The Incredible Hulk" for Marvel, which earned him an Eisner Award.  He co-created the character, "Spider-Man 2099" with artist Rick Leonardi.  He also had notable runs on "Aquaman" and "Young Juctice, among others, for DC Comics.  David also wrote "Star Trek" comic books and novels.  David wrote for animated and live-action television series, and he also wrote video games.

From BleedingCool:  Collaborators, peers, and colleagues celebrate, mourn, and remember the novelist and comic book writer, Peter David, who died Saturday, May 24th.

DARK HORSE - From AIPTComics:  Dark Horse Comics will publish the 24-issue series, "Elfquest: The Final Quest" (2014-18), in a single, 624-page hardcover edition at the cover price of $69.99. It is due February 2026.

DIAMOND - From BleedingCool:  Our long national nightmare is over.  Universal Distributions and Ad Populum have official bought Diamond Comic Distributors out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.

DC COMICS - From ComicsBulletin:  DC Comics has announced an upcoming "Superman" five-issue miniseries, "Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum." It will be produced by the creative team of the Image Comics series, "Ice Cream Man": W. Maxwell Prince, Martin Morazzo, and Chris O'Halloran.

EISNER AWARDS - From BleedingCool:  The nominations for 2025 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards have been announced. The nominations are for works published between January 1st and December 31st, 2024.   This year’s nominees were chosen by a panel of five judges:  Robert V. Conte, Kacy Helwick, Meg Lemke, Eitan Manhoff, and Rocco Versaci.  The winners will be announced the evening of July 25, 2025 in a ceremony held during the 2025 San Diego Comic-Con International.

DC STUDIOS - For YouTube:  Of course, Warner Bros. Discovery/DC Studios drops the first official "Superman" trailer.  The film is due July 11, 2025.

AWARDS - From BleedingCool: The Glyph Comics Awards 2025 were presented this past weekend (5/9 to 5/11) at the East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention, in Philadelphia.  The top winners were the horror comics anthology, "Shook! A Black Horror Anthology" and "Hammer."

MARVEL - From BleedingCool:  Marvel Comics writer, Jonathan Hickman, says that Marvel will publish comic books based on Fox's former sci-fi drama, "The X-Files."  He also says that "The X-Files" comic books will crossover with other Marvel titles.

From Negromancer:  Leroy Douresseaux offers a review of the new "Star Wars #1" from Marvel Comics.

IDW - From BleedingCool:  Starting later this year, IDW Publishing with start publishing "Event Horizon: Dark Descent," a prequel comic book series to the 1997 science fiction-horror film, "Event Horizon."

COMICS - From BleedingCool:  Just in time for the 45th anniversary of the 1980 film, "The Blues Brothers," is a graphic novel, "The Blues Brothers: The Escape of Joliet Jake," which is due in October 2025 from Z2 Comics.

EN MEMORIAM - From CBR:  The longtime Marvel and DC Comics artist, Jackson "Butch" Guice, has died at the age of 63, Wednesday, May 1, 2025.  Guice may be best for his long career with Marvel where he drew every major character at one time or another.  His big break was drawing Marvel's "Micronauts" series and the four-issue limited series, "X-Men and the Micronauts." His work with DC Comics included a run on Action Comics from the early to mid 1990s and on the cult series, "Resurrection Man."

JACK KIRBY - From Forward:  This article looks at how Jack Kirby's Jewish upbringing influenced his art and storytelling as the first career retrospective of the great artist, "Jack Kirby: Heroes and Humanity," debuts May 1, 2025 at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles.

DIAMOND - From BleedingCool:  The bankruptcy saga of Diamond Comic Distributors may be winding down.  The Baltimore Bankruptcy Court has approved the sale of Diamond to Universal Distribution and Sparkle Pop (a holding company for Ad Populum).  Universal Distribution will pay $49,634,950, plus or minus a few other factors. Sparkle Pop will pay $7,459,050, though with certain provisos for payments owed to NECA and WizKids, brands owned by Ad Populum. That's a total of around $57 million. Alliance Entertainment, which offered more than 70 million at the bankruptcy auction, are currently suing and filing complaints.

DC COMICS - From GamesRadar:  There will be a new "Batman #1" from writer Matt Fraction and artist Jorge Jimenez.  Launching in September 2025, this new "Batman" series will offer a "revamped aesthetic," a "throwback" costume, and a new Batmobile.

MARVEL - From BleedingCool:  Who gets what creator credits in "Thunderbolts*" from Disney/Marvel Studios.
