DC STUDIOS - From THR: Actors Aaron Pierre ("Rebel Ridge) and Stephan James ("Piano Lesson") are apparently in the mix to play John Stewart in DC Studios' planned HBO series, "Lanterns," based on the "Green Lantern" comic book franchise.
From Deadline: Actor Matthias Schoennaerts has apparently landed the role of the lead villain in DC Studios' "Supergirl" film, which will be based on the comic book miniseries, "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

MARVEL/ABRAMS - From BleedingCool: Abrams' latest Marvel graphic novel is "Iron Man: Something Strange" by Dean Hale and Douglas Holgate. It is set for a May 6, 2025 release date.
DC STUDIOS - From CBR: Will Reeve, son of the reverred "Superman" actor, the late Christopher Reeve, says that his cameo in James Gunn's upcoming "Superman" film, is an "honor" and a "full circle moment." Christopher Reeve played Superman in four films beginning with 1978's Superman: The Movie.
DC COMICS - From DCBlog: Absolute Batman writer Scott Snyder and artist Nick Dragotta talk about the new series. "Absolute Batman #1" hits stores October 9, 2024.
COMICS TO FILM - From ComicBook: There is a photo allegedly from the set of "Red Sonja," which reveals actress Matilda Lutz in full costume as Red Sonja.
EN MEMORIAM - From BleedingCool: Comic book artist, John Cassaday, has died at the age of 52. Cassaday co-created the Wildstorn series, "Planetary," with writer Warren Ellis. He and writer John Ney Rieber produced a well-regarded run on Captain America (2002). He and film and television creator, Joss Whedon, produced the comic book, "Astonishing X-Men" (2004-08). He drew the first story arc for Marvel Comics' first "Star Wars" comic book after it regained the license to produce "Star Wars" comic books.
From ComicBook: Comic book artist, Karl Moline, has died at the age of 51. Moline first made a big mark in comic books via now defunct publisher, CrossGen, where he created "Route 666" (2002-04) with writer, Tony Bedard. He also created "Fray" (2001-03, Dark Horse Comics) with writer, Joss Whedon. He also drew several issues of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" for Dark Horse.
IMAGE COMICS - From THR: Sony genre label, Screen Gems, has bought the film rights to the Image Comics' title, "Ice Cream Man," created by W. Maxwell Prince. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice writers, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, will produce.
DC CINEMA - From Variety: Director Todd Phillips says that he often joined Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga in Phoenix's trailer to completely write entire scenes of the "Joker" sequel, "Joker: Folie a Deux."
EN MEMORIAM - From BleedingCool: Canadian comic book creator and artist, Bernie Mireault, has died at the age of 63, Monday, September 2, 2024, apparently of suicide. Mireault was best known for his creator-owned comic book, "The Jam." First appearing in "New Triumph Featuring Northguard #2 (Matrix Graphic Series, 1985) as a back-up, "The Jam Special #1 (Matrix Graphic Series, 1987) was the first solo release of what would eventually become an ongoing series. Mireault also drew "The Devil Within" story arc for Matt Wagner's Grendel, and he colored several Grendel story arcs.
DC TV - From Variety: Netflix has cancelled its "Dead Boy Detectives" series after a single season. The series was based on characters from DC Comics' "The Sandman Universe."
