Big Time Rush in Bluewater's FAME Series

NICKELODEON'S TEEN PHENOMENON “BIG TIME RUSH” GETS THE COMIC BOOK TREATMENT IN AUGUST

Bluewater is pleased to announce a special graphic novel featuring the Nickelodeon phenomenon that is sweeping the nation's youth. Of course, we're talking about the boy band that includes Lendall, Logan, Carlos and James.

The subject, instead, was rather descriptive, and I'm used to that, so I think I got into it quickly enough.”

Green Lantern's Ryan Reynolds Gets a Comic Book Bio

GREEN LANTERN’S “SECRET IDENTITY” RYAN REYNOLDS POWERS OWN COMIC BOOK BIO

 

Catapulted from obscure roles and modest television credits to one of Hollywood’s reigning male “A” list stars, Ryan Reynolds is making a star turn in an upcoming Bluewater Productions biography comic book based on his life and career.

Scheduled for an May 2011 release, “Fame: Ryan Reynolds” follows the actor from his up and coming days in Canada through his 2002 breakthrough role in “National Lampoon’s Van Wilder” to his ascendancy to leading man status in such films as “The Proposal” and the upcoming super hero blockbuster “Green Lantern.”

“Ryan Reynolds is one of those rare actors who appeals to both men and women. Women love him for his obvious good looks and charm, but his humor and action role turns is what bring in the men. It's no wonder he's headlining one of the hottest films of the summer,” said writer Mark Poulton. “He’s definitely proving himself to be a force at the box office.”

Poulton, the creator of Koni Waves, teams up with fellow Koni Waves artist Dexter Weeks to showcase People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2010 in a standard 32-page issue.

“Mark and Dexter have such a strong partnership going with their own book, that their cohesion gave the Reynolds book a great flow of word and art,” said Bluewater president Darren Davis.

The issue retails for $3.99. It will be available through local comic book stores and several online venues including Amazon.com and the Barnes and Noble and Borders online stores. It is scheduled to be released two weeks before the U.S. premiere of Reynold’s latest movie, “Green Lantern.”

The “Fame” series was launched earlier in 2010 as a companion piece to the successful “Female Force” and “Political Power” biography titles. The comic allows Bluewater to delve into the celebrity culture and understand how a person rises to fame, deals with the new-found celebrity and continue to produce in the public eye. That includes actors, sports figures, recording artists and royals.

The Black Eyed Peas Get Bluewater Comics' "Fame" Treatment

The Black Eyed Peas made history in 2009 when its singles I Gotta Feeling and Boom Boom Pow held the top two spots in the Billboard Hot 100. Only 11 artists, including the Peas, have managed this feat in the Hot 100's history.

The Black Eyed Peas will make history of a different sort this February. That's when Bluewater Productions will ship its latest comic, Fame: The Black Eyed Peas to comic shops and online retailers across the country.

Bluewater Publishes Danica Patrick Bio Comic Book in December

BLUEWATER REACHES TO NASCAR NATION WITH DANICA PATRICK COMIC

 

Bluewater Productions has already brought new readers to sequential storytelling with its Political Power, Female Force and Fame comic book series. Now the independent comics company is reaching out to the members of NASCAR nation with its latest comic: Fame: Danica Patrick.

Bluewater's latest biography comic traces Patrick's rise through the male-dominated ranks of auto racing. It also explores the fascination that the public has with Patrick.

Writer CW Cooke, who has also penned Bluewater's top-selling Taylor Swift biography comic, said that even the most devoted of fans will learn something new about Patrick after reading this book.

“We've all seen the pictures and heard the gossip about her,” Cooke said. “But digging into her story and learning about her really focused me on the fact that she's a real person and not just a pin-up model or a one-note person.”

Cooke hasn't created a white-washed version of Patrick's NASCAR performances, either. The comic covers the critics who say that Patrick hasn't had enough success on the track to deserve all the attention that she gets.

Fame: Danica Patrick will hit comic book shops and online retailers like Amazon in December. The 32-page comic will retail for $3.99.

Artist Valerio Giangiordano handled the art for Patrick's story. Cooke, who was thrilled when he received his sample pages, said that fans won't be disappointed in the job that Giangiordano turned in.

“I just can't wait until you get to see this,” Cooke said. “The art was knocked out of the park on this one. One word breathless”

Kristen Stewart Sells Out

"FAME: KRISTEN STEWART" BIOGRAPHY COMIC BOOK ALSO SELLS OUT IN ONE DAY

After yesterday¹s announcement of Bluewater Productions’ biography comic book on pop diva Lady Gaga selling out one day after its release, Fame: Kristen Stewart does the same even with an aggressive overprinting of the title.

As for a new printing, next month comes a giant sized flipbook with FAME: Kristen Stewart and FAME: Robert Pattinson. Both books will be printed in a 48-page comic book and have new material not seen before. The book can be ordered at comic book stores and Amazon by using the ISBN code 978-1-4507-0884-5.

Writer Kim Sherman, who has also penned Bluewaters' Robert Pattinson entry in the series, said that Stewart's versatility and talent might surprise readers who only know her as Bella.

Lady Gaga Comic Sells Out

"FAME: LADY GAGA" BIO COMIC BOOK SELLS OUT IN ONE DAY, 3rd PRINTING AS WELL AS A SEQUEL IN THE WORKS

Bluewater Productions’ biography comic book on pop diva Lady Gaga has sold out one day after its release. A third printing, with a new cover is already in production.

“A lot of our biography comic books have sold out, despite many shops still under-ordering. Readers have contacted us still trying to find our books,” said BWP Managing Editor Darren G. Davis. “It just goes to show that you don’t have to be mainstream to reach the market. Readers just want great stories with great art, and if you can deliver that to them, they’ll come back for more every month.”

Davis also said, “Not only has the Lady Gaga issue sold out, but "Fame: Taylor Swift" & “Fame: Kristen Stewart” is selling briskly too. “This is even after overprinting the book.”

“Lady Gaga is a different sort of celebrity. So when writing a biography of her, I didn't want to resort to putting out a straight celebrity biography," said writer Dan Rafter. So just as she tries to be different, I too had to try something a little different with Gaga."

To those fans desiring a more traditional telling of Lady Gaga¹s biography, a sequel of sorts is scheduled for November.

Fame offers a broad examination of strong and influential personalities who are influencing culture. In a review of the Gaga comic, the New York Times commented. Bluewater Comics Brings Justin Bieber to "Fame"

JUSTIN BIEBER COMIC BOOK FROM BLUEWATER TAKES ON THE PHENOMENON

Teen pop sensation Justin Bieber has it all: A booming musical career, a dedicated fan base, a smile that makes young girls swoon and an innocence that makes parents smile.

Now Bieber is set to become a comic book hero when Bluewater Productions taps his life story for its popular Fame series of biographical comics.

Fame: Justin Bieber is a traditional biography comic book and will hit comic book shops and online retailers in October. This 32-page issue will retail for $3.99.

Writer Tara Broeckel Ooten said that while researching the comic she became convinced that Bieber has what it takes to craft a long musical career.

“I'm reminded of the stories my mom tells about when she was young and Beatelmania invaded the United States. For me it was New Kids on the Block,” Broeckel Ooten said. “Now today's teens and tweens go wild for Justin, and rightly so. He is a talented young musician. He has such an enormous global fan base. That and his talent will probably give him some real staying power in the industry.”

Claudio Avella is the artist on the book, and Broeckel Ooten said that he perfectly captured the feel of her story.

“He is an extraordinary talent,” Broeckel Ooten said of Avella. “His work has a real energy and life to it, a positive energy that works well for this book.”

Bieber certainly has a story worth telling. He's a self-made star who used technology and social networking to promote himself and his music. He also happens to make music that's undeniably infectious.

“I listened to Bieber's music for the first time while working on this project, and I have to admit, it can really stick with you,” Broeckel Ooten said. “I would hear it played somewhere, usually in Target, and I'd start singing along. I respect the musicianship that Bieber brings to his projects.”

Bieber is far from the first celebrity to appear in Bluewater's Fame series. He joins Lady Gaga and Twilight star Robert Pattinson, both of whose Fame issues sold out of their first runs, along with Tyler Lautner and soccer star David Beckham. Two new issues of Fame come out this month featuring Kristen Stewart and Taylor Swift.

David Beckham Latest Subject of Bluewater Comics' "Fame" Series

He may be the most famous soccer star in the world. He's married to a Spice Girl. He is, by any measure, an international sex symbol. And now soccer player David Beckham has become a comic book hero. This September, Beckham will star in Fame: David Beckham from comic book publisher Bluewater Productions.

Writer Pete Rogers and artist Pablo Martinena bring Beckham's amazing career to life, from his earliest days on the soccer field, when he dreamed of playing for Manchester United, to the challenges of his soccer days in the United States.

When I wasn't reading comics I was playing football, and I used to spend the school holidays training with local professional side 'AFC Bournemouth' at their Summer Soccer School. Getting the Beckham pages back from brilliant artist Pablo Martinena has taken me back to reading those comics on long hot journeys to Dean Court in the back of my Dad's car."

Bluewater Productions Announces Taylor Lautner "Fame" Bio

TAYLOR LAUTNER COMIC BOOK BIOGRAPHY COMPLETES TWILIGHT SAGA FOR BLUEWATER

Bluewater Productions has already completed comic book biographies of Twilight actors Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart and of the author who first brought Twilight to life, Stephenie Meyer. In August, the comics company will add actor Taylor Lautner to the mix.

Lautner, who plays shape shifter Jacob Black in the Twilight films, will get his own comic from Bluewater this August. The 32-page Fame: Taylor Lautner will retail at comic shops, Amazon.com and other online sites for $3.99.

Lautner was a relatively unknown actor until he made his debut in the popular vampire-romance movies. Those days are over. Today, Lautner is as much a household name as are Stewart and Pattinson.

Lautner is also a committed actor. He studied martial arts and packed on 30 pounds of muscle for his role in the Twilight movies.

Of course, Lautner's smile and chiseled features haven't hurt his popularity, either, at least not among the movies' largely female audience.

Kimberly Sherman, who's penned the biography comics of both Pattinson and Stewart, also wrote the new Lautner comic. Warren Martineck, an artist for DC Comics' WildStorm studio, provided the interior art, while JuanMar Studios produced the comic's cover.

SUPERSTAR TAYLOR SWIFT MAKES THE PAGES OF HER OWN COMIC BOOK IN JULY.


To say that Taylor Swift is riding a winning streak is an understatement. The singer/songwriter was named Billboard Magazine's Artist of the Year in 2009. She began her 2010 by winning the Grammy for Album of the Year for her sophomore album, Fearless. That album has spent more time at number-one on the Billboard charts than has any other album since 2000.

And now, the talented musician is slated to become a comic-book hero. Swift will become the latest celebrity immortalized in sequential form when her biography comic, Fame: Taylor Swift hits comic shops this July.

The comic, by Bluewater Productions, will trace Swift's rise from young singer/songwriter to mega-selling recording artist. It also chronicles her unwavering commitment to pushing herself. Actress Kristen Stewart became an instant celebrity the moment she signed on to play Bella, the love interest of vampire-with-a-soul Edward in the Twilight series of vampire/romance movies based on the popular novels of the same name.

Now Stewart is making the leap to full-on celebrity: She is the newest star of Bluewater Productions' Fame series of biography comics coming in June.

But Stewart has been acting long before Twilight, and most of her work hasn't involved vampires or werewolves. In fact, anyone who has watched the coming-of-age drama/comedy Adventureland, knows just how powerful of an actress Stewart can be.

With its biography comic titles selling well despite a slumping comic industry, Bluewater Productions announced the expansion of its biography title assets with Fame, a new series that focuses on culturally relevant celebrities and other pop culture icons.

The preview issue will be available in time for "Free Comic Book Day" on May 5th. featuring performer Lady GaGa. Future issues will feature such personalities as Robert Pattinson, 50 Cent, David Beckham and Taylor Swift.

“Over the past year we saw an opportunity to broaden the scope of who reads comics,” said Bluewater president Darren G. Davis, “There were many who had never picked up a graphic novel or comic book buy our biography titles like Female Force and Political Power. Fame is the natural extension of that trend.”

Davis, who was once a marketing executive E! Entertainment Television and Lionsgate, noted that the multiple printings of the tribute book, Michael Jackson: King of Pop, convinced him that the current crop of biography titles were too limiting.

“Fame gives us the ability to tell more interesting stories about a wider variety of notable personalities. Conversely, it allows us to focus the scope of our other biography titles to more socially and political important figures.” Davis added.

Additionally, Bluewater announced its biography title release schedule for the first half of 2010.

As previously announced, the Female Force series will feature Nancy Pelosi, Michelle Obama: Year One and Ellen DeGeneres. Other biographies filling out the first half of the year's schedule include Supreme Court justice Sonia Sotomayor, news anchor Meredith Vieira, and novelist Anne Rice.

The Political Power series will feature Al Gore, Nelson Mandela and Bill Clinton followed by Arnold Schwarzenegger, Al Franken, and Rush Limbaugh.

“People seem to enjoy debating whether this person or that are worthy of our biographies. Whereas some subjects have more influence on our social, cultural or political landscape than others, the bottom line is we try to choose subjects that have compelling or important stories to tell,” Davis said.

The biography comic book series, launched earlier this year, has drawn considerable media attention, including features on CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, “The View” and “Live with Regis and Kelly.” It has also been featured in such periodicals as People Magazine, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, USA Today and thousands of blogs and other media outlets.
