EN MEMORIAM - From BleedingCool: Illustrator and comic book creator and artist, Michael Zulli, has died at the age of 71, Monday, July 8, 2024. Zulli first came to notice for his environmental activist comic book, "Puma Blues," for which he produced 23 issues and a mini-comic from 1986 to 1989. He would also draw or contribute to five issues of Neil Gaiman's "The Sandman" (DC Comics) and several issues of the fantasy/horror anthology, "Taboo," to name a few.
COMICS TO FILM - From Deadline: Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence will star in a film adaptation of Paul B. Rainey's graphic novel, "Why Don't You Love Me?" (2023).
MANGA - From BleedingCool: In October, UDON Entertainment will publish Yuzuru Kuki's manga biography of "Peanuts" creator, Charles Schulz. Advanced copies will be on-sale at San Diego Comic Con later this month.
DC ABSOLUTE - From BleedingCool: Jeff Lemire will apparently be announced as the writer of DC Comics' "Absolute Flash" at San Diego Comic Con 2024.
BOOM! - From BleedingCool: Penguin Random House has bought comic book publisher, BOOM! Studios, buying out its investors, which included The Walt Disney Company.
DC ABSOLUTE - From BleedingCool: DC has revealed the creative line-up for its "Absolute Universe" titles which debut in October 2024. The line is supposed to offer fresh and modern takes on DC Comics characters, although the people working on the titles are mostly the same-old same-old.
From BleedingCool: The site is reporting that DC Comics will launch "Absolute Batman," via an ashcan edition, at San Diego Comic Con 2024, later this month. The "Absolute" line is similar to Marvel's "Ultimate" line offering a "fresh, modern take" on DC's characters.
DC ANIMATION - From YouTube: Max has debuted a trailer for its animated series, "Kite Man: Hell Yeah!" The series, which is set in the world of the animated "Harley Quinn" show, debuts July 18th, exclusively on Max.
BOOM TO FILM - From THR: Ryan Coogler's is producing a film version of BOOM! Studios' graphic novel, "A Vicious Circle," written by Mattson Tomlin and drawn by Lee Bermejo. Tomlin will write the film's screenplay.
DARK HORSE TO FILM - From EW: The first trailer for the upcoming film, "Hellboy: The Crooked Man," has arrived. The film stars Jack Kesy in the title role, and the movie was co-written by Hellboy's creator, Mike Mignola.
DC ANIMATION - From YouTube: DC Comics has released the first official trailer for the new animated series, "Batman: Caped Crusader." Season One begins August 1st on Prime Video.

FANTAGRAPHICS - From TheNewYorker: The great Francois Mouly and the great Daniel Clowes take a tour through Clowes' mind in conjunction with the impending release of Clowes' upcoming graphic novel, "Monica" (Oct. 3rd).
DARK HORSE - From ScreenRant: Mike Mignola's "Hellboy" takes on a giant robot version of himself in the three-issue miniseries, "Giant Robot Hellboy." Written by Mignola with art by Duncan Fegredo, the series launches in October 2023.

EN MEMORIAM - From CBR: American comic book artist, Dan Green, has died at the age of 70 after a long illness. Green is best known as the long-running inker on John Romita, Jr.'s pencil art on "Uncanny X-Men," beginning in 1983. He continues inking the series when Marc Silvestri became the series artist. He would also ink Silverstri's art during a run on the "Wolverine" ongoing, and would return to ink Romita, Jr. on "Uncanny X-Men #300." Green also used watercolors to paint the well-remembered 1986 Doctor Strange graphic novel, "Doctor Strange: Into Shamballa," which was written by J.M. DeMatteis.
MARVEL STUDIOS - From Variety: Oscar-winner Taika Waititi directed "Thor: Ragnarok" (the third in the series) and "Thor: Love and Thunder" (the fourth), and he is letting fans know what he would do in a hypothetical "Thor 5."

EN MEMORIAM - From BleedingCool: Veteran comic book inker, John Floyd, died at the age of 61, Monday, July 10, 2023, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. As a youngster, John published his own fanzine, and he would go on to graduate from The Kubert School. He is best known for his working inking such comic book legends as artists, Barry Windsor-Smith and Denys Cowan. He was the inker on "Batman: Gotham Knights" (2000-06) for its first 49 issues. John was also a comic book artist, colorist, and letterer. Floyd also worked in the film industry as a production and storyboard artist, contributing to such films as "Rambing Rose" (1991), "Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth (1992), and Oscar-winning "Django Unchained" (2012).
